Project name: Father Collins Park
Location: Dublin
Landscape Projects won a commendation award for our submission to the Father Collins Park competition held in Dublin in 2003.
The scheme was organised around three main themes: the programmatic requirements of the brief were organised to exploit linkages beyond the park and to provide a hierarchy of places and scales of space to evolve; a Human Measure and the use of inherent perceptual scales and distances to organise the park in a comfortable and un-alienating manner; and the use of Extreme Exaggeration to heighten the experiential possibilities of the park.
These themes were brought through the design creating a range of spaces that support the social, communal, intimate and individual needs of the community, organised along a dramatic 'whaleback' ridge, adding to the drama, exposure, enclosure and security found in the park.
